The grapes, Nerello Mascalese variety, for this wine are grown on the steep high slopes of the active volcano Mt Etna in Sicily.
It has lovely red roses perfume with blackberries on the nose and on the palate it has red cherries, tobacco and spice with a lovely rich minerality. On the finish it has soft tannins with lovely ripe fruit that makes it a delicious complex wine, not too dissimilar to a Pinot Noir.
Delicious alongside game dishes and mushrooms or goat’s cheese
