Protero Capo Nebbiolo wine is a personal project of Stephen Pannell two times winner of the Jimmy Watson winemaking trophy, from his vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. This wine was bottled unfiltered and unfined after settling. It has dark chocolate, herbs, orange skin, cherries and spice on the nose and on the palate dried cranberries, chocolate, sandalwood, orange pith, spice with leather and dried roses. The wine has layers of complexity and waves of flavour that explode in your mouth , finishing with great length and strong tannins.
A fabulous wine drinking experience that could be served with anything but I think a plate of sliced salumi, olives, stinky chees and crusty bread would enhance the enjoyment of this outstanding wine.
